On the one hand, the low carbon energy laboratory should play a coordinating, integrating and guiding role in the scientific research in the energy field and the construction of major scientific research bases of the university.On the other hand, we should concentrate on key research areas, especially organize research forces and carry out cross-disciplinary research on development strategies and roadmaps for energy security and global climate change, carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS), and alternative energy for transportation.Through the exploration and innovation of management system and operation mechanism, we will gradually establish a cross-cooperation mechanism on campus, a mechanism for top-level planning of major research plans and projects, a mechanism for raising major social resources, a mechanism for open sharing of common and demonstration research platforms, and a resource allocation mechanism for supporting major projects.
The laboratory will establish an international high-level academic committee and advisory committee, inviting domestic and foreign dignitaries, famous scholars and entrepreneurs to serve as members.We will actively cooperate with large energy enterprises at home and abroad to build research institutions and industry-university-research cooperation platforms.To establish a Low Carbon Energy University Alliance with world-class universities (Tsinghua University, Cambridge University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology have signed a letter of intent to establish a Low Carbon Energy University Alliance and set up the alliance design committee) to jointly study and address global climate change issues;Promote exchanges and resource sharing through open experimental research platforms and new technology demonstration platforms, series of seminars, publications and networks.The laboratory will set up and support the campus energy and environment education program under the framework of "Green University", and integrate the scientific development concept concerning energy and environment into student education.
