Biography

WEIZE SONG is the Research Director of GREEN Data Platform at the Laboratory of Low Carbon Energy of Tsinghua University, a jointly appointed faculty member at the Institute for Carbon Neutrality of Tsinghua University, and a young academic leader at the Institute of Climate Change and Sustainable Development of Tsinghua University. His main research focuses on fundamental theories, methodologies, and system integration applications for the environment, climate, and energy governance. He has led the design and development of the Green Climate Governance Intelligent Platform (version 1.0) and the SSP Future Scenario Database (version 1.0), which will be released at COP30 held in Belém, Brazil.


He is also a Subproject PI of the Carbon Neutrality and Energy System Transformation Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Subproject PI for special program funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and principal investigator for the Youth Program of the Beijing Natural Science Foundation. He serves as Associate Editor of the Water-Energy Nexus journal (JCR Q1) and received the 2024 Best Editorial Award. His work has been recognized with the 2024 ESI Highly Cited Paper, the ICCEE 2025 Best Paper Award, and the IGEC 2025 Best Presentation Award. Additionally, he serves as Deputy Secretary-General of the Carbon Neutrality Committee of the China Energy Research Society.


He received his Ph.D. in Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2018, completed his postdoctoral research at Tsinghua University in 2021, and was a visiting scholar at Columbia University in the United States. He has participated in the Conferences of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and served as a scientific committee member and session chair at major international academic conferences in the fields of energy and environmental management. His work has been reported by mainstream media outlets such as CGTN, People’s Daily Online, and Phoenix TV.


He welcomes institutional partners for collaboration and invites jointly trained Ph.D. students to join the research team.
